In this first of the “pastoral epistles,” Paul instructs young Timothy to”charge” his congregation to teach no other doctrine than the glorious gospel that was committed unto him. The “mystery” was being ignored and compromised, which required special attention to the message of grace. We face the same danger today of a widespread ignorance of the gospel of grace which was committed to Paul for this present age. This epistle is an encouragement to pastors and all believers alike!
